As “DJ Q” moves, so does the crowd.  Q, one of Kansas City’s premier disc jockeys, is the gust behind the city’s nightlife scene. He has played Kansas City’s largest and most popular venues to packed, lively crowds. It’s been that way for 19 years. With his passion for music evident, Q has no plans of that changing.

Music has always been at the center of DJ Q’s life. His mixed CDs were in demand during his college years. Out of his love for music, he made mixes. His friends loved them and trumpeted them to other people. They had to have their own copies. This thirst planted the seed for what was to come.

Q returned to Kansas City from college in 2002. He hit the nightlife scene and found himself spending money he didn’t have. Hanging one night in a Kansas City watering hole, ideas began percolating. Q wanted to monetize the nightlife scene. Not sink cash into it.

Not too long after that night, Q began deejaying weekly poetry nights and some recreational events. Within three years, he transitioned to a career DJ, with regular gigs at a host of Kansas City nightclubs, venues, weddings and affairs. He’s blossomed into one Kansas City’s most revered and booked disc jockeys.

He has performed at many Kansas City-area venues including The Historical 18th & Vine Jazz Dist (The American Jazz Museum, The Blue Room, The Black Archives, Soiree Steak and Oyster House ), Cerner Corp, The Sprint Center (now The T-Mobile Center), The College Basketball Experience, Hy-Vee Arena, The Gem Theater, Mission Theater, Isle of Capri Casino, VooDoo Lounge (Harrah's Casino), Power & Light Dist, One Light/Two Light Apartments, Martini Corner (Sol Cantina & Brick House), Westport (Bridger’s, Lotus, Shot Stop, Yard Bar and Ale House), Ra Sushi, Drunken Fish, Aloft Hotel, Bar Louie, Aura, Society, Scarlet Room, Blvd Nights, Social (Waldo), Jambo, The Truman, Bartle Hall, Municipal Auditorium and many others in between.

Q has also worked different events for companies who hosts events such as Higher Ground Entertainment and Twelve Magazine (First Fridays KC), Clay Johnson Foundation, P.U.R.E. Entertainment, Joey Cuts/180V Barber Salon and the Know Joey? Foundation, HBS Entertainment, KC Sneak Fest, RAW Artist, UpDown Nightlife App and Fifth Avenue KC.

Since beginning his DJ career in 2004, Q has been the resident DJ for staple weekly events in Kansas City such as:
